About this notebook

I’m Jae Young Yoon, a high-speed and PMIC analog circuit designer. This site is my design notebook: notes, design logs, and circuit-level writeups from my work in analog integrated circuit design.

Most current posts focus on phase-locked loop design — VCOs, frequency dividers, phase-frequency detectors, charge pumps, loop filters, and full PLL integration — built entirely with open-source EDA tools on the Skywater130 PDK.

My goal is to document the design process in a way that stays useful after the simulation window is closed: equations, topology choices, design tradeoffs, SPICE setup, waveform interpretation, and the reasoning behind each revision. The series is not a polished textbook; it is a design notebook cleaned up for public reading — mistakes included, on purpose.
